Experience has taught me that interest begets expectation and that expectation begets disappointment. So the key to avoiding disappointment is to avoid interest. A equals B equals C equals A or whatever!

I've just spent the better part of the last thirty minutes negotiating with a rather large frying pan, trying to convince it that it's better for the both of us it became clean.
I think I've succeeded, but he might have second thoughts.
